Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage the financial records for a diverse portfolio of optometry clients. This critical position involves transaction coding, statement reconciliation, and overseeing the monthly closing cycle. As we expand our service offerings, you will also handle payroll for participating practices while assisting with accounts payable and bill payment processes.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise the bookkeeping and financial reporting activities for independent practice owners.
Assist in coding financial transactions and collaborate with owners on decisions relating to equipment purchase expenses versus capitalization.
Reconcile financial accounts and ensure accurate monthly closing of books.
Facilitate the payroll process, including payroll processing, tax payments, and filing payroll reports.
Provide support to a maximum of 60 client practices monthly.
Contribute insights and feedback for the enhancement of our service offerings.
Required Skills
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is essential.
Experience with payroll software such as QuickBooks Payroll, Gusto Payroll, ADP, or Paychex is preferred.
Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency in pivot tables and VLOOKUP, and competency in other Microsoft Office applications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, coupled with excellent time management and decision-making abilities.
Exceptional attention to detail and organization in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated and effective in a remote working environment.
Collaborative mindset and adaptable to dynamic circumstances.
Qualifications
A solid foundation in bookkeeping or finance is required.
Previous experience with small, independently owned businesses is advantageous.
A Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
